Chemotherapy
It is a drug treatment that uses medicines to destroy cancer cells. It is delivered with an IV cannula inserted in a large vein, usually in the arm or hand. Its dose may be administered for a few minutes or up to a few hours/days. The dose is different for each patient and is calculated according to weight and height of the patient, keeping in mind the age of the patient. Treatment is typically performed in cycles/sessions done in day-care in hospital. Chemoport/PICC lines are relatively new devices available to ensure safe and uniform delivery of chemotherapy.
Immunotherapy
It is a cancer treatment which acts by activating body immune system. The immune system helps to defend the body from infections and diseases. The cancer cells can by pass the immune system to grow in immense proportion. Immunotherapy is also known as biological therapy. Certain cancers don’t respond well to chemotherapy or radiation, but may respond well to immunotherapy and doesn’t have a side effect profile like chemotherapy does
Targeted Therapy
Targeted therapy drugs target mutated proteins or mutated genes in cancer cells. Small-molecule drugs are small enough to enter cells easily, so they are used for targets that are inside cells. Monoclonal antibodies are designed to attach to specific targets found on cancer cells. Targeted therapy may cure cancer by itself or it may be very useful when combined with other types of cancer treatment such as surgery, chemotherapy or radiation therapy.
Palliative Care
Palliative treatment helps to relieve side effects of cancer and the ongoing treatments. Surgery, radiation, chemotherapy and hormone therapy can all be used to relieve symptoms. Pain control and maintaing proper nutrition are important aspects of cancer patient management.

Cancer genetic counseling involves your oncologist and a certified genetic counselor and help you and your family understand your inherited cancer risk. Inherited cancer risk may be passed from parent to child. A genetic counselor explains available genetic tests and what they mean. He or she can also offer information about cancer screening, prevention, and treatment options and provide support.
